SGR Fiery Tango Notes: September 2009 Tango has started developing a mammary tumor. It appears to be slow growing. We will keep an eye on it and evaluate whether or not to have it removed in the near future. April 20th 2010 at 29 months old. Put to sleep. Respiratory distress in the last day before death due to stress of being sick?. Never really had respiratory weakness but could be due to being on antibiotics often because of the facial abscesses. In the week before death Tango lost a lot of weight and appearance was run down and old. The mammary tumor found Sept 2009 grow slowly and at the time of death was the size of a plum. Along with the mammary tumor in Sept 2009 Tango started developing facial abscesses which the line is known for facial abscesses that are unresponsive to antibiotics. Fortunately most of these abscesses responded rather well to antibiotics up to the point of the last abscess. There were 5 facial abscesses total with the last one being the one not seemingly responsive to antibiotics. I found the last abscess had busted and the exit was inside her mouth. I do not know if the last abscess was really not responding to the antibiotics or Tango was dying in which the meds would not have helped anyway. With age, weight loss, ill health and declining I opt to have Tango PTS. No necropsy was performed due to an unforeseen family emergency.
