About Us.... |

Years ago when Ryan and I first got together, we obtained an agouti hooded feeder rat from the local pet store. We just adored Flower! We lovingly cleaned out her 10 gal. tank every few days, made sure she had fresh pine bedding, realized that the tank was not big enough for two rats so Flower lived alone, and the best commercial food money could buy. Due to our many mistakes with Flower and research, we have learned to properly care for our rats. Sadly even though Flower lived a couple of years and we loved her, she still suffered because of our lack of knowledge - we thank Flower for showing us the way. We are a new Rattery located in Toledo, Ohio. My husband Ryan and I have been researching genetics and health of rats for several years now. Slowly along the way, we have rescued a few rats and obtained a few from local breeders. Due to our research, we have made a few decisions about our Rattery. One of them is to keep our Rattery closed. (I will add details and pictures of the cages and environment soon).
Goals Odyssey Design Rattery's goal is to focus largely on structure, health, and temperament of Fancy Rats. As not to limit ourselves we will be working with various colors and a variety of coat and ear type. We are cosmetically focusing on Selfs working towards solid Blacks and Russian Blues without any presence of white. In the future we plan on introducing more Siamese into the line to produce strong shaded points in Seal Point and Russian Blue Point Siamese. We will be working with Russian Beige using SGR and DAZL lines. The color is currently listed as Provisional under United Rat Standards. Sometime in the future we will be working on hooded with DAZL. Odyssey Design
Rattery was under the mentorship of Daniel Stein of Tekka Maki Rodentry for a
year and a half. We
are grateful for his knowledge and guidance. We hope to preserve the standard
of type, health, and longevity that TEK promotes in his lines. Rat Room Photos coming soon
